Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana
Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) is a nation wide scheme launched by Indian government in August 2014 under which at least one in every Indian family will be enrolled in a bank for opening an account. This scheme not only provides the families of India to have an account but it also offers various benefits to the poor families. This new scheme is the 1st step towards ensuring that financial access to everyone who was not able to get benefits of many other finance related government schemes.
The earlier campaign on financial inclusion started in 2011 had a limited objective. The focus was on the coverage of villages with population of 2000 or more with banking services. Coverage of individual households with bank accounts was not the focus. Out of the 5.92 lakh villages in the country, only 74000 villages could be covered. The Prime Minister launched the Pradhan Mantri Jan DhanYojana at a National level function here today.
Besides the launch function at Delhi, simultaneous launch functions of the Yojana were also held in the Capital and other major centres of the State and at all district Headquarters. The Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley, Minister of State for Finance Ms Nirmala Sitharaman, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Shri Nripendra Misra, Cabinet Secretary Shri Ajit Seth, Governor, RBI Dr Raghuram Rajan and other senior dignitaries were present on the occasion. The Prime Minister said that the target to cover 7.50 crore households with at least one account under the Yojana will be achieved by 26th January, 2015.
Elaborating the benefits under PMJDY, the Prime Minister said this was not a mere bank account, but had other benefits including an RuPay debit card, Rs 1 lakh accident insurance cover, and an additional Rs. 30,000/- life insurance cover for those opening bank accounts before January 26th, 2015. Speaking on the occasion, the Finance Minister said that efforts will be made to ensure that no household is left without a bank account. A competition was also held earlier through the MyGov Platform for suggesting the name, logo and tagline for the Comprehensive Financial Inclusion Programme.

This scheme was launched by honerable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 28th august 2014.He has announced this scheme on his first independence day speech on 15th august 2014. PMJDY is run under the ministry of finance.this scheme is mainly for people who belongs to the rural areas.It is india’s national mission in the field of finance to ensure access to financial services such as banking savings and deposit accounts,credit insurance in afffordabole manner.
This yojna is also make a Guinness world record.on the inauguration day of this scheme 1.5 crore (15 million) bank accounts new open.18,096,130 accounts was opened in first week and 384.11 billion(US $5.7 billion) were deposited under these scheme.
For launch these scheme the PM personally mailed to chairmen of all PSU bank to gear up the gigantic task of enrolling over 7.5 crore households and to open their accounts.In these email he declared that all the bank account for each household was a “national priority”.The target of these scheme is to provide “Universal and clear access to banking facilities”.After six months of opening account a rupay debit card and inbuilt accident insurance cover of one lakh will also be added. Under this scheme account holders will be provided zero balance bank account.in the world of technology a person can transfer funds,check balance through a normal phone earlier which is possible through smart phones.
219 million accounts including 57 million zero balance accounts were opened under this scheme.
Uttar Pradesh and west Bengal have got 29% of the total deposit under this scheme.whereas kerela and goa became the first state in the country to provide basic bank account to every household.
Pradhan mantri JAN DHAN yojana
The pradhan mantra jandhanyojana is a central government scheme launched by prime minister Mr.NarendraModi .its main aim is to provide basic banking facilities to all people who do not have any bank access .t is for the financial inclusion to insure access to financial services namely banking.
This scheme came into force from 28 August 2014, and on the same day it was launched about 15 million (1.5 crore) bank accounts have been created which has set up a world record in the Guinness book of world records.
This scheme has been started with a target to provide universal and clear access to banking facilities with basic banking accounts .
-Account holders will be provided a zero balance bank account.
-after six months of the opening of the account the account holder can take Rs 5000 overdraft from the bank
-with new technology being prevailing ,transfer funds ,check balance through normal mobiles is possible which was previously been restricted to only smart phones .
With this scheme the government wants to provide banking for all and to end financial un touch-ability in India.
